007 EV rolling out to dealers with 10-minute ultra-fast charging

The 2024 Zeekr 007 (pictured) has been quite quickly overshadowed by the updated 2025 model just nine months after initial launch

Ten-minute EV charging has been realized – quite nearly, at least. We’ve seen many “world’s fastest” EV battery charging claims roll through in recent months and years, but most relate to battery tech that’s still deep in the research or prototype phases. This week, Chinese auto manufacturer Zeekr staked a new claim on the title, but this one’s for the 800-V lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery in the updated 007 sedan launching in mere days.

Its fast, twisty, hilly, often 5th-gear blind-entry corners with unforgiving run-off also make it one of the most dangerous road courses.

We were less than charitable when the 850-hp, V10 Engler Superquad was first introduced in 2019. When the 2023 version was introduced with an extra 250 hp, we seriously considered where it might rank among a murderer’s row of the most terrifying vehicles ever built. Now there’s a new V12 model with an extra 100 hp and an extra 100 kg (220 lb) and… Look, if the animated remains of Mick Jagger can continue belting out its greatest hits night after night, then by golly so can Engler, and so can we.
