Each year for the last seven years, Peninsula Classics has been running an event that is so grandiose in concept that few others would even attempt to create an award on this scale. The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best identifies the world’s most exceptional classic car from a select group of vehicles that have won the highest awards at the previous year’s major concours events.

A 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competizione became the latest winner of the Annual Peninsula Classics “Best of the Best” Award yesterday, winning the 2021 edition of the most prestigious concours honor in the world.

The title of the world’s most acclaimed concours car is generally attributed to the winner of the Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award, which David Sydorick’s 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta won in February this year. Last year the car won the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, but when it took out both the public and judges ‘best in show’ at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, there can be no claims to the contrary.

BMW Motorrad showed a “Concept R18” motorcycle at Concorso d’Elegenza Villa d’Este on the weekend which is effectively the first shot in an offensive on Harley-Davidson and Indian territory. The concept is the first glimpse of many new bikes expected from BMW based around the 1800cc twin-cylinder, and there’s already rumors of a 2000cc version.
