621-mph maglev vacuum train “T-Flight” test successful

In February of this year, we reported on the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, and its phase one testing of a low-vacuum-tube hyperloop-style maglev ultra-high-speed (UHS) train. In initial 1.24-mile-long (2-km) tests, the T-Flight hit … Continue reading 621-mph maglev vacuum train “T-Flight” test successful

Graphite platform levitates with no need for external power source

Magnetic levitation is used to float everything from lightbulbs to trains, with varying levels of success, but usually it requires a power source. Now, scientists in Japan have developed a way to make a floating platform that requires no external power… Continue reading Graphite platform levitates with no need for external power source

Low-cost passive maglev upgrade tested on regular rail tracks

Maglev transport systems present an attractive option for the mobility mix. They’re quick and quiet, and are low maintenance. But setup can be costly and complex. Italy’s IronLev is looking to change that with a passive system that runs on regular rail… Continue reading Low-cost passive maglev upgrade tested on regular rail tracks

China claims new speed record with vacuum-tube maglev train

China claims its T-Flight vacuum-tube maglev train has set a world speed record in prototype testing. It's eventually targeting at least 1,000 km/h, significantly quicker than an airliner

China’s biggest missile manufacturer is working on a hyperloop. CASIC claims it’s clocked the fastest speed ever for a superconducting maglev vehicle – over 623 km/h (387 mph) – during tests in a low-vacuum tube just 2 km (1.2 miles) long.

HyperloopTT showcases ultra-fast automated freight capsule transport

For the past decade, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies has been pushing forward on a near-frictionless high-speed capsule system it ultimately hopes will revolutionize both passenger and freight transport. Its latest introduction, the Express Freig… Continue reading HyperloopTT showcases ultra-fast automated freight capsule transport

MagLev Aero unveils “breakthrough” HyperDrive eVTOL propulsion system

A fascinating eVTOL project is about to come out of stealth, showcasing a “breakthrough HyperDrive propulsion technology” that MagLev Aero claims is “dramatically more quiet, efficient, safe, sustainable and emotionally appealing to the mass market.”Co… Continue reading MagLev Aero unveils “breakthrough” HyperDrive eVTOL propulsion system

China’s “Sky Train” levitates power-free on permanent magnet tracks

A new Sky Train test track in Southern China has debuted the world’s first maglev transit system built using permanent magnets instead of electromagnets. It’s capable of keeping its underslung carriages suspended indefinitely without a power supply.Con… Continue reading China’s “Sky Train” levitates power-free on permanent magnet tracks
