China claims new speed record with vacuum-tube maglev train

China claims its T-Flight vacuum-tube maglev train has set a world speed record in prototype testing. It's eventually targeting at least 1,000 km/h, significantly quicker than an airliner

China’s biggest missile manufacturer is working on a hyperloop. CASIC claims it’s clocked the fastest speed ever for a superconducting maglev vehicle – over 623 km/h (387 mph) – during tests in a low-vacuum tube just 2 km (1.2 miles) long.

1,200 km/h TransPod FluxJet: Canadian hyperloop reels in half a billion

Faster than a jet plane and about half the price. Yes, it’s another hyperloop-style vacuum-tube train – this time from Canada. TransPod says it’s started preliminary construction on a tube that’ll fire you from Calgary to Edmonton in 45 minutes.Continu… Continue reading 1,200 km/h TransPod FluxJet: Canadian hyperloop reels in half a billion

Virgin Hyperloop preps its latest transport pods for display in Dubai

While it works away at the propulsion technology required to shuttle people and cargo through near-vacuum tubes at around the speed of sound, Virgin Hyperloop continues to iterate on the design of the pods to hold them. The latest version of these comm… Continue reading Virgin Hyperloop preps its latest transport pods for display in Dubai

HyperPort would fire shipping containers around at transonic speeds

Hyperloop Transport Technologies has presented an ultra-high-speed shipping port logistics system it says can shift up to 2,800 containers a day, covering hundreds of kilometers in minutes – while decreasing emissions wherever it’s rolled out.Continue … Continue reading HyperPort would fire shipping containers around at transonic speeds

Virgin Hyperloop shows off new pod design and passenger experience

Although the technology needed to propel people through near-vacuum tubes at around the speed of sound is still years away, every now and then Hyperloop developers like to share their vision of what this future might look like. Virgin Hyperloop has don… Continue reading Virgin Hyperloop shows off new pod design and passenger experience

Hyperloop: Fast, But At What Cost?

When it comes to travelling long distances, Americans tend to rely on planes, while the Chinese and Europeans love their high speed rail. However, a new technology promises greater speed with lower fares, with fancy pods travelling in large tubes held at near-vacuum pressures. It goes by the name of …read more
