Rembrandt's Night Watch has been photographed in unprecedented detail, with each pixel representing an area smaller than a human blood cell

Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum has released what it claims is the highest-resolution photo of an artwork ever created. A total of 8,439 individual 100-megapixel exposures were stitched together to create this 717-billion-pixel image of a celebrated Rembrandt painting.

World’s biggest clean energy project to power Singapore from Australia

The planned Australia-Asia PowerLink project is nearly 10 times the size of the world's current largest solar power installation

A colossal US$22-billion infrastructure project will send Australian sunshine more than 3,100 miles (5,000 km) to Singapore, via high-voltage undersea cables. Opening in 2027, it’ll be the largest solar farm and battery storage facility in history.

World’s biggest green hydrogen project announced for Kazakhstan

Germany’s Svevind has announced plans for a colossal green hydrogen project that will place some 45 gigawatts of wind and solar energy generation on the vast steppes of Kazakhstan to produce around three million tonnes of green hydrogen annually.

Blue Abyss will be the world’s biggest and deepest indoor pool

Blue Abyss will plunge to a depth of 164 feet

Blue Abyss Ltd. is building the world’s largest and deepest indoor pool in Cornwall. Set to hold 1.5 million ft3 (42,000 m3) of water or, to use the standard British unit, 168 million cups of tea. It will be used for testing advanced undersea robotics, as well as acting as the world’s first commercial astronaut training facility.

Australia plans world’s biggest battery (again), at 1.2 gigawatts

Australia has clearly been motivated by the huge success of the giant 150-megawatt Tesla battery built in South Australia in 2017. In November, neighboring state Victoria announced a 300-megawatt plant to go live at the end of this year, and now, a new project in New South Wales will dwarf both these projects combined.

Had enough of fidget spinners yet? If you haven’t heard, a toy that consists of a bearing in the center of a multi-lobed flat structure that’s designed to spin around the bearing’s axis with little force has taken the world by storm. Usually, these devices are about 10cm in diameter or less. But, everything is bigger in Texas. So, naturally, students from the University of Texas at Dallas got to work making the largest fidget spinner in the world.
