Shadow Brokers leak NSA documents that may reveal operation aimed at Middle Eastern banks

The Shadow Brokers published a cache Friday of supposed NSA documents, 23 executable hacking tools targeting Windows and perhaps most notably, evidence showing the secretive agency compromised offices connected to a global banking transaction system in order to spy on Middle Eastern banks. The cache holds authentic NSA documents and contains legitimate information, according to former intelligence officials who spoke on condition of anonymity. “TheShadowBrokers showing you cards theshadowbrokers wanting you to be seeing. Shadow Brokers re-emerge, drop large catalog of stolen NSA exploits

The Shadow Brokers, the mysterious group linked to exploits stolen from the National Security Agency, have released a large catalog of files Saturday that give further insight into the elite spy agency’s hacking methods. In a lengthy blog post on Medium, the group reveals a password that unlocks an encrypted folder full of files the group previously tried to sell in an online auction. The group says their motive for unlocking the files is disappointment with President Donald Trump since he assumed office, including missile strikes on a Syrian air base carried out earlier this week. “TheShadowBrokers doesn’t want this to be happening to you, Mr. Trump,” the group wrote in the rambling, grammatically poor post. “TheShadowBrokers is wanting to see you succeed. WikiLeaks releases supposed CIA documents detailing U.S. hacking operations

WikiLeaks has published a cache of 8,761 files it claims provide insight into the CIA’s extensive computer hacking operations, including a description of tools and targeted technologies. In what is apparently the first in series of upcoming releases dubbed “Vault 7,” the controversial transparency organization claims that this will be the most comprehensive publication of confidential documents in CIA history. The series’ first installment is named “Year Zero.” It contains information related to dozens of supposed zero-day exploits developed for use against software and hardware created by prominent American technology firms like Apple, Google and Microsoft, among others. In theory, such capabilities would allow spies to compromise older operating systems found on iPhones and Android smartphones.
