The Type 20 gets a vibrant look to match its futuristic tech package

The naming of a new Volkswagen Silicon Valley research center that’s really a 20-year-old Volkswagen research center? Huge yawn. A Halloween-colored, 11-window 1962 Type 2 bus with weird organic styling, pure-electric powertrain, facial recognition and holographic infotainment? We’re wide awake, eyes and ears open. It’s no wonder VW spliced the two announcements together, previewing innovations yet to come from its reinvented innovations facility with a one-of-a-kind electrified Microbus.

Volkswagen's ageless California camper van gets a youthful boost of new technology

Volkswagen teases the California 6.1 ahead of an upcoming debut

Earlier this year, Volkswagen announced the updated T6 van, dubbing it T6.1. In addition to roaming highways and worksites, the T6.1 van will slide its way under an updated California camper van. Volkswagen previewed the revised version of its icon this week ahead of a planned world premiere next month. The updated camper van gets some interior and exterior touchups, a new camper command center to complement the van’s digital cockpit, and some new driver-assistance features that are sure to help out on the way to and from camp.
